Adolescent Behaviour Assessment Battery (ABAB)Description of the ABAB Instruments The ABAB Inventories evolved from the intensive use of the APDI scales over two decades. The inventories are designed to assess the adolescents and Youth behaviour in an ever changing economic, political, health, educational, psychological, counseling and social reacities of our time. For instance, there are so many issues to consider in the 21st century regarding adolescents and youth. As a group they are more in number than any other group of human beings on earth today. The world youth report for 2000 indicates that at the turn of the 21st century, 1.7 billion people are between ages 10-24years. The report went further to indicate that complications of pregnancy, child birth, unsafe abortion are major causes of death for girls between ages 15-19 years. The youngsters also have higher infection rates of sexually transmitted infection (STIic) including HIV/AIDS. Apart from the increase in health hazards psychological problems are soaring beyond expectation for the youngstars. For example manifest adolescent and youth psychological problems of this age such as violence, anxiety, attention deficits, depression learning disabilities, dating, love decision making problems, service, relationship problems, phobias, fears, obsessive-compusive disorder, lack of creativity, immorality and so on. These problems need to the carefully assessed and managed properly so that adolescents can make more adjusted transitions to adult hood and be useful members of society.
